Bose Companion 2.0 Multimedia Speaker Review

Bose Delivers Great Sound Quality For An Affordable Price

As an avid gamer, I constantly have to upgrade my setup to meet the standards of the season's gaming "apparel", so to speak. Recently, I've purchased the Bose Companion 2.0 Multimedia Speakers. Priced at one hundred dollars, the Companion 2.0 is one of Bose's more affordable setup's for mid-range sound quality. The small size allows for portability and desktop space, a must have when you're cramped into a tight space.

Speaking of the sound quality itself, it certainly isn't the best on the Bose market. Bose sells a variety of upper-class speakers and while this package doesn't rank among them, it still provides superb sound considering the cheap price tag.

I was immediately grasped by certain features of the Companion 2.0, including the dual-stereo inputs and adjustable volume knob. It makes sound-tuning to perfection an easy jobs and once again creates a form of versatility in which the user is enabled to use the speakers to their personal preference.

It's really very easy to see that a lot of thought went into the speakers. As pointed out in the CNET review, which expresses a lot of my opinions as well, the Companion 2.0's are tilted upward so that the sound is projected up directly into the ears.

I highly recommend looking into these speakers. Available for the right price, they give a great feel and deliver some solid sound quality.

Also, guys, please excuse me for posting rather short articles; I've been busy with school work these last few days.

Grand Theft Auto Five Announced

Tuesday's aren't usually particularly news-heavy days for gaming, however, this morning Rockstar announced GTA V, the next installment to their award-winning Grand Theft Auto series. Having been a fan of the series since Grand Theft Auto Three, I can say I'm particularly excited. Grand Theft Auto Four was quick to please, just like San Andreas and Vice City. Not all games had the same style of play, though. GTA IV set a realistic mood, putting you in the hands of a mobster on the front line as he progressed from a petty street criminal to a respected man in the mafia. It was a story of revenge and uprising. More comical titles, such as San Andreas, allowed for realism to step down. Instead, humor was used to potentially make the game great.

So, the green V? What's that all about? Personally, I felt as if the "five" were a bandana wrapped around the head of a street thug. One of my Facebook friends, however, pointed out that the "five" looks similar to the style of lettering on a five-dollar bill. Makes sense, considering that the green "V" represents money.

Stay tuned for more Grand Theft Auto Five updates.

Preparing For Battlefield 3

No Sleep Till The Caspian Border

By midnight, you'll likely be asleep, preparing for the work day ahead. For you, it might not matter that one of the most anticipated games of 2011 lurks around the corner. That's alright, though. Go back to your cup of tea and your pre-recorded episodes of "Friends"- I'm speaking to the hardcore gamers now.

Now I ask you, what game would cause so much excitement that Lev Grossman of TIME magazine would do a full scale article on it, comparing it to FPS giant, "Modern Warfare 3?" What game could create so much controversy in the community that people would question whether it was an actual military sim, a generic shooter, or the successor to the award winning Battlefield 2? And finally, what game could total 700% more pre-orders than B2 in its first few months of announcement?

Ladies and gentlemen, that game is Battlefield 3. Once again, Electronic Arts looks to astound us with gripping gameplay and realistic combat, not to mention destruction in all forms. To be honest though, the beta, which lasted until October 10, didn't particularly instill a sense of hope in me for B3. Why is it now, though, that I begin to hype the game?

There was a lot we didn't get to see in the beta. Electronic Arts just fed us a map in which there were no vehicles and destruction was limited. These are two aspects of Battlefield that essentially made the series unique and I do believe that the actual game will integrate vehicle-ground warfare nicely.

Really, it's more than that though. It's the idea that when playing Battlefield, I feel part of a much larger war. Every time I plant the bomb or defuse site A, I contribute, in part, to my team's success.

Spiral Knights New PvP Mode To Come Shortly; Prepare For Lockdown

Some time ago, I posted an article related to the then new Spiral Knights Blast Network PvP mode. Apparently, this time, Three Rings is back at- they released a press statement on steam revealing details of a new PvP mode. The new mode, called "Lockdown", will pit players against each other as they test their combat skills. Supposedly, Blast Network was a light approach to the PvP system, considering the earlier PvP preview event was extremely imbalanced. Spiral HQ, a steam group, have leaked some information that seems to touch down on exactly what players can expect from "Lockdown".

Lockdown: The next PvP event is on its way – in case you want a break from blowing other Knights to tiny bits in the current Blast Network game, but still have murder in your hearts, Lockdown will give you the opportunity to engage in real Knight-to-Knight combat. But wait, there’s more!

Players fight for control points on a battlefield, where you can use whatever equipment you have. Add to this unique equipables from each team’s base for a very unique & strategy-based combat game!

I'm really interested as to how Three Rings will approach this. Perhaps I'll even play Spiral Knights again.
Ah, the glory of blowing other players to bits....

New Blogger Theme Is Amazing- Thanks Google

This article isn't so much directed at you, the reader, as it is at Google, the makers of this great blogging service we all came to love as Blogger. In case you didn't know, there is now a new blogger theme for the central hub, which makes publishing these articles that much easier. The new theme is elegant, but plain. There isn't as much clutter scattered around for the posting section, giving you room to think, edit and write. Personally, I quickly grew to enjoy this new layout and I hope Bloggers all around the world did so too. Anyway, here's a picture of the new theme just in case you aren't part of the Blogger team.

Thanks Google, this new interface is much more user friendly.

Puzzle Pirates Available On Steam; Mixed Emotions

Let's face it. Hotkey MMO's are old school. Many fans of the genre are tired of smashing their number keys in effort to level up, complete a "kill-or-gather" quest and gain useless mounts. However, one game might change all that. Puzzle Pirates has horrible graphics, clunky animations and an indecent UI. What makes it different, better perhaps, than all other free-to-play MMO's, you may ask? The core of the game is based entirely on solving puzzles. From combat to missions [quests], the game fares on unique puzzles, some designed for spatial thinkers, others for builders and constructers.

Before I describe more of the amazing puzzle system, I'll describe to you the more "MMOy" aspects of the game, if you will. At character creation, you have a limited number of choices. The game allows you to change the torso, hair, and legs. Aside from granting your pirate a name, there isn't much else you can customize. Once your pirate is ready to plunder, the game will take you on an interactive tutorial that sadly lacks voice acting. Right away, you'll be brought to the "missions" tab, where you can set sail with a crew of random players. Of course, setting sail isn't that easy. There are jobs to be done- and this is where puzzles come in. You choose from rather easy puzzles, such as bilging, which takes you to a "bejeweled" type game, or difficult ones such as carpentry, which require spatial thinking abilities as you try to piece together the floorboards. Upon completing these puzzles, you'll get a form of currency known as "pieces of eight", which can be spent on furniture for your home, clothing for your pirate, or pets for your enjoyment.

This is bilging, a puzzle game frequented by beginners.

Aside from being a home owner and adding furniture, there really isn't much else I can say about the game. I'll post a video below giving you my detailed first impressions some time this week. Have a pleasant evening.
